2022 Winner: Megan Tatum

Megan has a background in education in family and consumer sciences from South Dakota State University, so was trained on providing career development with students. Lucky for us, she has been employed with the South Dakota Department of Education (DOE) since 2012 to offer career development support for educators and students as well as champion a free career exploration and planning tool, SDMyLife. Through her work at the DOE, she gone well beyond providing technical assistance to educators on utilizing SDMyLife, and has provided engaging career development activities for educators to utilize with their students so they may better engage in career awareness, exploration, and preparation. Beyond Megan’s experience in career development, her shining light is her creativity in providing career development services. Megan strives passionately at providing career development information and resources in a manner that engages educators and students. I have always admired how Megan strategies how to make something both practical, but a true experience for the learner, so they may be better able to apply the material in the future.- Andrea Albrecht
